PROJECT COST
$250 Million

Shands Hospital had developed a strategic plan and initiated a facilities master plan. ZHA was retained initially to provide construction estimating and scheduling to substantiate the program’s development. During the pre-construction phase, we helped staff develop a phasing schedule that allowed for separate approvals of various program components, submitted to AHCA as exempt, expedited or batched submissions. As the program components were solidified, we provided program and design review, resulting in gross square footage savings and additional projected operating efficiencies.

ZHA was asked to further assist in the Certificate of Need submittal process by developing program utilization criteria to justify the space program developed by an earlier consultant. We additionally coordinated the equipment planning program. The overall master facility plan included: Patient Tower Expansion, Brain Institute Ambulatory Care Center, Human Development Center, Parking Road System, Chiller Plant and Utilities Interior Renovations.
