PROJECT COST
$3.5 Million

The city hall expansion and remodeling project was one of three projects approved by the Lake Mary City Commission. The city hall, originally built in 1990, contained approximately 13,000 square feet. The city hired a design-build firm to evaluate the facility and determine an appropriate expansion and remodeling project. ZHA was hired as the owner's representative to oversee the design and construction.

The building, completed at a cost of approximately $3.5 million, contains a central core with a new entry, a new rotunda, and expanded commission chambers. As part of the project, the feature lake was re-sculpted, planted with lake edge material that could withstand a 15-foot variation in the elevation of the lake. The basic building shell, made of load-bearing brick and frame walls, and 60-foot wood trusses, was maintained for the majority of the project. The building was reroofed, and new air-conditioning systems and ductwork were installed. The residential character of the original brick building was protected and enhanced.
